The Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community

Coordinated by Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Catapult, we are the award-winning Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC). We develop apprenticeship programmes, designed to train and upskill individuals for the life sciences industry.

By doing an apprenticeship with ATAC, you become part of a group of apprentices and employers who will be provided with ongoing support throughout your apprenticeship journey. The industry is looking for scientists and non-scientists alike as there are a variety of roles to choose from. An apprenticeship with us is a chance to begin your career path into an industry which is hugely rewarding and will help to transform people’s lives.

Why choose an ATAC apprenticeship?

Explore the benefits of an Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) apprenticeship through first-hand experiences shared by two of our current apprentices.

Want to help transform lives?

Start now with an apprenticeship in life sciences

Whether you’re at the start of your career or building on your skillset, undertaking an apprenticeship means you can combine work with study by mixing on-the-job training with formal learning. On completion of your apprenticeship, not only will you obtain an accredited qualification, but you will also have gained new transferable skills which will help propel you into the professional workplace. An ATAC apprenticeship is the perfect route into a career in the life sciences where you’ll be making a real difference to the quality of people’s lives. Life sciences are defined as the study of living organisms. Many medicines are made from these living cells including antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, vaccines, and advanced therapies. Advanced therapies are a ground-breaking new class of medicines that use gene therapy, cell therapy or tissue engineering to treat diseases such as cancer.

Testimonials

...Potentially finding a cure, is incredible.

To know what I am doing is aiding research and development into more effective treatments, and potentially finding a cure, is incredible. Giving patients time with family and friends that they wouldn’t have had if this treatment wasn’t available is a rewarding feeling.

...Best of both worlds between getting a job and university.

If you’re unsure about going to university consider the apprenticeship route it allows you to earn money whilst gaining an extensive skill set and to top it all off, you can work to get a university degree as well. It’s the best of both worlds between getting a job and university

...Allowed me to jump straight in...

This apprenticeship allowed me to jump straight into the most interesting aspects of science I had learned at school.
I decided to do a degree apprenticeship because I wanted to gain practical experience within the scientific research sector. At the same time, I wanted to progress with my studies without having to worry about being in debt. The best thing about this programme is that it seamlessly moulds the academic aspect of my degree with my time at the Catapult, thus allowing me to cover course content and continue with the responsibilities my role requires. The work environment at the Catapult is also very friendly and full of energy!
